Default Transmission 2nd gear question

Hey Guys, I have a trans question........My 02' 660 has been running great.....When im in 2nd and really getting on it, the chain sounds like its jumping but its not, and also when im just riding with 2 people on. it does the same thing......Could this be a 2nd gear going out? all other gears are fine.....and it shifts fine...It getting worse... I spend an HR yesterday trying to see what it was....and I got aggravated and cut a doughnut in 2nd for about 45 sec trying to see if will go ahead and bust something so I can fix it but it didnt get worse......

im not trying to be an asshat so im sry if i do but in ur description you say 2002 660 but your sig says an 01... if its an 01, then yeah your prob in my situation, 2nds there, you can catch it in gear to start it, you just cant give it gas.. almost feels like if you were to pull and release the clutch rly rly fast. like bumping the clutch if you will... as soon as torque is applied to 2nd it just jumps, and catches and whatnot.. again thats [I]if[I] you have an 01.. idk about 02 an up if theyve ever had issues with anything tranny related.. hopefully someone will chime in

This is the slipping, worn dogs on the second gear issue. Is your bike an 01 or 02? Common with 01's, not so common, but possible with 02's. (what's the 10th digit of the VIN? 1 - 01, 2 - 02)

The difference between the 01s and 02s are the number of engagement dogs that the gears have to work with, the 02 has four whereas the 01 has three, what was happening was that the engagement dogs would break off, so they increased the number of dogs for more strength and contact are, they would also wear and round the edges of these dogs, the four dog gear also helped here because of more surface area, the other difference in the trans was a slight change in gear ratios.................

Thanks for the feedback guys.....I have a problem with what yr it is..When i bought it the guy said its a 2004...well after being a member on here, its not a 2004...I tried to find the vin and where the previous owner flipped it, and dogged it out its not readable.....Im going by the color scheme...Found a 2002 with the same colors...So im not sure on the year...My luck its a 01 with trans problems!!!! But next question,, I wanna fix it, ive read that Yukon gears are good...How hard is it to fix this problem?

if the rear part of the frame is round and not square tubing then its an 02 or newer the 01 had square, also look at the rear shock if its a remotresi (not sure how to speel) it will have that gold canister for the shocks oil on the left side of the bike(not a piggy back) its an 01.
