Default Raptor 660 electrical problems

ok well I just bought a 2004 raptor 660. When i purchased it I was told it wouldn't start due to electrical problems. Well whenever i got it home I hit the electric start and it start smoking at the button so I cut it off and took of the battery cable. Then I hooked it back up and tried to jump it off the starter solenoid and it would try to turn over but was never successful. Also ine i the terminals on the starter solenoid is at a 45 degree angel and looks like it is about to break off. Well I ordered a new starter solenoid, electric start panel, and wiring harness. I am just lookin for any info on the situation or if there is anythig I can do between now and the time the parts come in to see if it will start to make sure it is just electrical and not locked up. thank you

You can turn on the key switch and short out the big terminals on the start relay. This will start it up.
