Default Replacing Key with tether

My buddy lost the keys to his 03 660 raptor and we are suppose to be riding this week. Can you just take the key off and replace it with a tether for the weekend and shut off the killswitch to save the battery? I take all the keys off my banshees but have never messed with a 660 before...

Default Re: Replacing Key with tether

Just short across the two wires of the key switch. Then, if you just turn the run/stop switch to stop, make sure the headlights are off, and put the bike in gear (to turn the neutral light off) there is no current drawn from the battery, so you're good to go and good to stop and leave it alone for a while.

I just took my ignition to the local shop and they looked at a code engraved on it and made me 2 new keys for $8. If one is close by call them and tell them you lost your key and can they get you a new one.
