Abandoned 660R

I've just come across an abandoned 660R the owner has not moved it in 2.5 yrs since his son moved out of the country and he does not even have the keys. I can see some rust on the machine. He is letting me have it for about 500USD including a trailer. (Is this a good price? we dont have any ATV workshops closeby where we can have it checked before buying so there's no assurances of what all could be wrong with it)

I plan to get together with a few friends who know engines and try to fix it up (I know 0 about engines and they do loads or atleast they claim to)

What are the main things that we should look for.. Clean the carburettor, change spark plugs, oil filter and oil.. fuel line.. battery.. clutch.. these are just items we have discussed

Any advice would be appreciated.

Buy it...clean carbs...change oil...charge/replace battery...give it a once over...bypass ignition and let her rip. And all else fails...part it out and profit.

Looks like a great barn find. As stated, give it a thorough going over prior to pushing the button to start it. As clean as it looks other than dust from storage, I think you have a winner. Keep us posted on what continues with this story..

Yeah that thing looks better than the 660 i bought for 500 and you got a trailer! When i got mine it didnt run they didnt know what was wrong with it. It ended up being just an oil pump. But hey looks like you got a good deal. If anything for parts alone.

Hell, the trailer's worth that!

Follow the advice above on cleaning and fluid changes and replace the battery, and i'll bet you have a diamond in the rough.
