my 04 660 will not start with starter switch. turns over but does not fire. i can pull start it (compression).. what could be cousing this

Hi QuadManiac...I tried the red wire reverse fix...Ive had the carbs apart 3x....each time Im ready for it to run perfectly....it starts to pop and backfire and the R starts to blink....thats at idle...Im running a s/o HMF pipe, 155/160 jets, 27.5 pilots and a K&N. It might idle nice for 5-10 seconds...no extra throttle blips...then starts to pop and then engine dies. Looking to the guru for ideas.....Thanks

I was just wondering if you could tell me where the negative cable hooks up to the frame. My quads been apart all summer and I cant remember. Just changed the tranny due to a shot 2nd.

hay quadmaniac need some ideas i messed up big. my exhaust stud broke off in the head instead of removing the head i tryed to drill out the stub with the head on the engine well i thought everything was going smoothly then boom antifreeze started pooring out. so now i removed the head and it looks like when i was drilling the bit walked off the stud into the head right into were the antifreeze travels now i have a broken stud still stuck inside the head and a hole right next to it can this head be repaired or do need to buy a new one

put adyno jet kit and 27.5 pilot jet air idle at 3.5 turns floats set at 3mm dies out at full throwtel let it set ayear with no gas now right carb dumps fuel out took apart clean needle now runs like shit cuts out where do i go from here

hey bud,im sure you here this allot but im have some issues with my 01 crappy OK here we go1) last summer i was having a problem with the starting when i put the bike up but would start fine every thing worked good.2)got the bike out this summer and nothing but the starter relay buzzing, so i replaced it but before i replaced it i jumped the cables and the bike jumped not turning over 3) so i replaced it and now the bike wont do any thing again. so i've been looking at your posts and you seem to know your stuff but the bike turns over but wont start.so the bike symptoms are: the bike does nothing. the lights do not work head lights or brake lights i tried pulling in the clutch and still nothing i looked at all the fuses and there all good i don't know what to do next.
i'm on ebay trying to buy a on/off switch.if you could reply to me with any thing you think of i am really desperate to go to silver lake in a few weeks

Hey there! I was reading a post where you were helping a guy trouble shoot his charging system. I did what you asked him to do to diagnose the stator, and had good voltage with all three pairs. I assume that means my rectifier/voltage regulator is bad? Is there any way to test that?
Will the 4 wheeler run if you disconnect the battery while its running?

I am in need of some help if you wouldnt mind trying to help. My problem is my raptor wont start. Makes a loud knock when you hit the starter. It sounds like the knock comes from the starter side. I have made sure i have compression and good spark. I have also made sure i get fuel and air. I have also looked at my valves and springs to make sure they are not stuck open. They all appear to be ok. So my last thought is that it is out of timing, but i am unsure how to check that. I dont know what else to check and/or look for. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. kevin
