Exclamation Raptor 90

I just picked up the new 90 its def a step up from the old 80's but now Yamaha looks like they are out sourcing the 90, if you look on the exhaust it says E-ton, they don’t make a bad 4wheeler but still when the salesman makes fun of the Polaris pred because they are made in china then your loading the quad in the back of your truck and you see made in Taiwan kind of makes you a little mad, so far the quad seems pretty good, but only time will tell and then it’s too late... I still have not taken out a trx 90 that was my next choice, but we will see

If I had kids I would go with the Raptor 90. I love the look if it over the others.

I think it is hard to argue that Honda is not top in longevity, and the Honda CRF 50 motorcycle is made in Taiwan. Whoever is making the Raptor 90, they have to meet Yamaha's specifications and Yamaha is not going to sell anything poor quality. I am really torn between the better features of the Yamaha and the Honda track record for bulletproof little toys! I am leaning toward the Raptor, My local dealer is looking for a blue one to match my blue 700 Raptor right now.

Don't worry and get one. We bought two a month ago. The kids love'em they seem to holding up great. They ride them everyday after school for at least an hour or so then most of the day on the weekends so far so good!

Can you tell me more about them? Do your kids jump them? How old are the kids riding them? Any idea on the top speed? Any other small ATV expenses to compare the Raptor 90 to? Have you have them on a trial or just around the yard? What about big puddles? Some of the little ATV's like the Polaris have a wide open air intake right next to the ground, have yours seen any water and how did they fair?

VA Raptor,

so Scott, did you get some nice weather this weekend that take the raptor out for a nice long spin?

Yes, we did have some great weather this weekend and I had the 90 out for a good 3 hours.

I'll start off by saying that it did exceed my expectations. Also, while the suspension is a big step up from the older mini Raptor's, don't go in expecting it to ride like a 700 I'm 5' 10" and weigh 180lbs and it did handle my weight quite well, though I did bottom it out on a small 5ft jump (not too surprising though).

I did not get a chance to clock it on my GPS, but from feel I'd estimate it between 30 and 35 MPH easily. The CVT transmission works very well, though from a dead stop it would have some small issues climbing, but once the transmission is loaded up it has got some great acceleration.

My younger nephew had an absolute blast riding it as well. He didn't take it off any jumps as he's not as comfortable as his brother on them, but the CVT transmission gave him all sorts of confidence. Unfortunately, my older nephew was away at his football game this weekend, so he did not have a chance to ride it. I'll be interested to see what he thinks in comparison to his friends LT80 as his younger brother feels that the 90 is a lot faster and definitely more comfortable.

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

VA Raptor,

what do you mean when you say it had problems starting on a hill? Was that with you or your nephew on it? Was there just a little lag (like most CVT trannies) and once it started going up the hill it was fine, or did it just not want to start moving at all?

Another question I have is regarding water/mud? Does the air box look fairly sealed and have a nice high protected inlet to keep the water out? Does the tranny appear to have a good seal and be waterproof? And what about that fan in the black shroud on the right side?
