after alot of questions and not knowing 100% what to do i came up with this post to help others along. I can confirm this is working without any problems at all on my 2009
I am posting a 5 step (WITH pictures) process to eliminating the speed sensor
This is a step by step of how i did it.
Tools - Ratchet and socket set, screw driver/nut driver, wire cutter and crimping plier
Items needed - 20-22 guage hoop connector, 1 self tapping metal screw, black tape
Time - 15-30 minutes
Step 1 -
BY FAR THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Battery disconnect
Disconnect the battery using a 10MM socket and ratchet, or a number 3 philips head screw driver. Move wire to the side.
Step 2 -
ECU location and removal
pull the rubber surrounding the box and the box at once. it will slide straight up off of a metal holder, mine took a bit of work to get out. pull the whole unit out as far as you can (without damaging it) and lay it over the air box
Step 3 -
ECU pig tail connection
remove the ECU connector by pressing in on the plastic locking finger and pull the plug out.
Step 4 -
locate the baby blue wire
the baby blue wire will be on the CORNER of the plug. it is a LIGHT blue SOLID wire, mine had army green hash marks every 2 inches or so along it.
Step 5 -
Cut and ground the baby blue (light blue) wire to the frame or airbox
I cut my wire to short so i had to use a self tapping screw but the easiest way is to make sure you have a long wire to work with and ground it to the frame using the airbox bolt. CRIMP the connector on and fasten it to one of the two locations stated.
DUE TO SOME CONFUSION
the wire to ground to the frame is coming out of the back of the ECU
This is the final view of the install
If you have any questions send me a PM or post and i will try to answer any questions.
