I have good news~! Not selling my 686~!
I can afford a good starter street bike with the money I have saved and my tax return~!
SO...... I am not planning on selling my rappy 686 to fund my motorcycle.
Talked to my builder last week and my cousins 400cc stroked banshee should be ready this week or the next and then my motor will be started~! He said my rappy should be up and running by the end of February~! Not rushing him because all labor is free. I am gonna buy him some beer though and I'll probably toss him some cash anyway.
So I have been lookin at alot of different bikes right now here are my starter bike requirements: ( don't laugh at the STARTER bikes I have choosen. lol )
Fuel Injected
Overall good condition
Not raced or stunted
600cc or greater
I found a 04 kawi ZX-10 with Jardine pipe and a crash bar. It has 10K and is only 4K ( but i am concerned about the crash bar, probably stunted )
02 GSXR 1000cc pipe and undertail kit, 3,100 3K
If you have a bike for sale near Chicago that meets these requirements hollar at me~!
Thanks for reading~!
Dan

ya why do u want a 1000 for a starter bike i think a 600 hundred will have more then enough power for u being that its ur first bike.

I agree with the others on here, my friends and I rode and raced sport bikes in the early 1990s, the 600 class bikes today make as much horse power as the GSXR750 did in 94 and only weighs about half as much. If you're not used to sport bikes I'd start out with a good low mileage 600. As for raced or stunted bikes, it's difficult to tell sometimes. Most of us would race a bike for two seasons using race plastic then put the street plastic back on to sell it. It looked showroom clean when it was sold and showed very low mileage. However, we took good care of them, maintained the engine and kept up on all the service requirements. A compression test will tell you if the motor has good valve seats and rings.

You should look at a Suzuki SV1000S. They come from the factory as a naked street bike. No Faring. Most of the time you can find them used with an aftermarket color matched faring.
They are a 1000cc v twin that can scream. They might not keep up with a 1000cc in line 4 for drag racing, but they are a lot more fun to ride on the steet. You dont have to rev the crap out of them to make HP. My bro had a 2003 sv1000s, and now has a 06 yamaha R6. I like the feel of the sv1000s better. It is a little bigger (longer) bike and was more comfortable to ride.
Naked.

I would avoid a 1000 for a first bike. You need time to develop your riding skills and the 1000 will scare the bejesus out of you and really slow down the learning curve.

1000cc v twin and a 1000cc in line 4 cylinder are two different animals. The 1000cc v twin has a lot more torque and smoother feel to it. Dont get me wrong the sv1000s is still capable of high speed runs.

Honestly this bike is just gonna be for cruising around. Im not gonna be on the track or anything like that, I'll get on it when the time is right though. Ive ridden a few bikes and felt pretty comfortable. cbr 600f41 gsxr 1000,750,600 ( triumph 955i 1st bike I ever rode. ) and a harley.
I am a value shopper. I'll end up buying the bike i get the best deal on. I have my eye on a few 600's and they are newer with less miles than the 1000cc bikes I have been lookin at. I just need somethin to ride after I get off the trails......
