Honda 400ex thoughts???

So I currently have a Raptor 350 and plan to sell it and move on. What are your thoughts about a 400ex with some mods done? Also how big of a upgrade will that be? Or should I go with a banshee?

Stock Hp on 400 is about 27. How much after you add in the mods done to this bike?

I wouldn't bother with a 400ex, especially if you want to put on a big bore and stuff. I don't think a 400ex is an upgrade from a Raptor 350.

I would just look for a good deal on a YFZ450 or something like that. Maybe a TRX450. or even a Raptor. stock these will be MUCH better then a 400ex, and will give a better platform to improve on in the future. In the long run it will save money. I would even consider a Predator 500 or Outlaw 500 or 525. I have a Outlaw 525, and they have great power, but are a bit of high maintenance.

Sorry i am not a fan of the bashee, so i wouldn't recommend it. It's old technology to me, and the newer bikes offer a better platform, and Fuel Injection and stuff.

Thanks for the response... Big fan of the Banshee tho.. Lol.. My friend has a GYTR YFZ, I rode it and loved it, also rode his stock 2006 banshee and loved that also. Not sure on the 660 raps and 700s...

Most likly will lean to a banshee once spring hits after i sell my bike an save up some cash... The power on those things are just crazy!

How about the 250r.. have seen some for around $2500 rebuilt and piped / bored..

440 big bore on a 400 ex makes em decent. Plus Honda makes very reliable bikes. But like stated above get a 450r that's a much better idea.

The 250r is awesome in my book but people will say different with it being two stroke. If u have patience tho you can rebuild them in notime at home.

Okay.. well if I do end up buying the 400ex that i posted. Good deal? im going to see if he will take less. Still plan on a banshee or big 4 stroke bike this summer .. but want 2 bikes for my uncle to ride out with us and friends..

Quick question: How much is 440 big bore, and is there any other mods that will help.. new to modding..

i'd still stick 4 stroke, More reliable, easier to get parts, and bike is overall newer technology.

maybe you should ask on basheeHq.com or a 250r forum. This is a Raptor Forum, and I for one love my raptor.

Take at look at the cost of the mods you want to do, and add that into the purchase price of a better bike. My friends 14 year old son rides a 400ex with High compression piston, exhaust, intake and tuned. still doesnt' have much for power. He is able to keep up on our basic runs, but the bike simply doesn't have enough power to keep up on a full run in the sand.
