This is my first post on this forum... I registered today, but have been reading threads for awhile (lurking). I am set on getting a Raptor 700 and have started looking at one's in my area. The question I pose to the forum is...
"What should I look for in a quad?"
"Are there any common failing with these quads that I should be aware of?"
"Should I be wary of a modded quad?"
I have a few proper canidates and plan on pulling the trigger within a weeks time. I thank all that respond and will answer any questions to the best of my ability... Thanks for having me on your most excellent forum...
If you have decided on a raptor that is a good start. Just look for something that looks like a good value, and in your budget. Stay away from anything that doesn't feel right. Get a title. There are good deals out there, so try to find them.
It's tough to say on mods. If it has any mods, like intake, slip-on exhaust make sure it has a tuner on it. I would stay away from anything that has had a lot of internal work done.
As long as the bike is maintained well, there aren't any major failure things i am aware of on the Raptor 700s.
if a bike needs some work, is a good price, and you want to do the work you can consider them as well.

I looked first for color, I don't like gray, but some do.
Get a price idea for your area from craigs list, or ebay.
Nerf bars and GYTR parts are good.
Fuel controller is the most importent mod, then air cleaner and exhaust.
If it runs and sounds good, then engine mods may be OK as long as they are within reason. 5mil stroker and 105.5 bore are reasonably reliable, and means it has less hours then a stock motor in most cases.
GOOD LUCK
One that you don't have to fix, unless you're getting a great deal.
No major issues are common on these bikes, but check for the normal things like smoking engines and cracks in the frame.
I wouldn't buy a heavily modified engine without a good pedigree, you'd need proof of the build and where it was done.
Any ideas on a price range or what you're looking for?
Thanks for the replies...and the warm welcome... I hope to find an 07' 700 or newer maybe a 700r or a GYTR edition if possible. I'd like find one that is bone stock... but one that is "mildly" modified would be ok... I would like to keep the tab around 4-5k
@duaanne... Is the guy in Fenton PSI per chance?
