Banshee

I have rode a banshee before, but it was a stock one and i was about 10 yrs old so i cant really say how it was. How much power can you get out of one of these things? Is a 75 hp banshee going to be faster, slower, equal to a 75 hp raptor in a sand drag? Im not interested in getting one for a long list of reasons starting with i hate the sound. But i sure am curious about anything raptor riders are worried about lining up against. Obviously everyone here is partial to raptors, just like me, but im sure some of you have had one... any input?

Power delivery.

My brother and buddies had theirs built pretty good. $hit and git for drags. I feel hp to hp a Banshee will win in straight up drag. I thought about getting a Banshee, but I can't ride more than what I have now. Outdated suspension and ergonomics for what I enjoy. Great for young blood folk, I prefer controlled delivery.

I've owned many Banshees and they can be built beyond raptor capabilities that I've seen. I do how ever enjoy lining up against a banshee and spanking them with my Raptor. I've witnessed a claimed 80hp banshee loose to a 78hp raptor. Both paddles and extended swing arms. But the baddest of the baddest I've seen are banshee inspired atvs! Not really quite a banshee anymore but very similar. Lol. None the less, 2 stroke

I had nearly 10K in a 98...i will never go back. They eat up stators and CDIs. They steer heavy, are heavy, not good for much other then straight lines or climbing hills. I enjoy my torquey raptor over the screaming banshee...sure it was fun but i started with a stock $1800 banshee...it just kept eating money month after month. In stock form they are not very impressive...modded they are impressive but your spending bank also.

Plus most people cant jet a 4 stroke on here let alone a 2 stroke lol.

Its your money but theres a reason they make a FI 700 now...its the new school banshee.

It all comes down to set up. I've gapped many quads with street bikes motors on a 60hp raptor and it was not contest with my 72hp, simply because they would have crap suspension or terrible tires. I personally have never rode a banshee but raced hundreds not knowing what any of the hp on them were. But you can tell if one is built or not. If built right the hp is almost endless with them, but raptors are getting to be the same way with the new billet cases. My opinion is about the same as the previous comments. For straight line racing they are the way to go, anything else they are a brick. Suspension is inferior compared to newer bikes and that right there is enough for me to go with a raptor. I won't even get into tq numbers at low rpms

I love 2-strokes, and have rebuilt quite a few over the years.
They are no harder to jet than a 4 stroke either, don't belive the hype.
Rule of thumb is that you need double the cc in a 4-stroke engine to compete with a 2-stroke. So a 350 Banshee is good competition for a 660 or 700 Raptor.
That is with equal riders and engines on both machines running properly.
A stock 660 and a stock Banshee make about the same peak hp, high 30's, but the power curve and delivery is different. 4strokes tend to make more torque, make it easier, and at lower rpms.
It all depends on the build and more so the rider.

I love 2 strokes too. I had a Honda 310R (250R) but it was getting hard for me to start (at 65-70 yo) and no reverse. The raptor fit the bill except for the weight. A Banshee needed to drop 2-3 teeth on the countershaft sprocket to run.

I know how it is.
I'm only 40, but my back and knees don't want to kick anything anymore.
My next project was to be a Suzuki 500 quadracer. But, as often as we stop, or someone has to back up in a trail(and there's no room to spin it around), I decided on a Raptor.
Friend had a good 05 660 in pieces, and it's been my project the last couple years.
When done, 720cc ish, port, polish, cam, ect, should make 60hp...and with electric start and reverse(and will have shocks revalved to my weight, 450 fronts).
Hard to beat for an all around trail, hillclimb machine(have +2" swingarm now too).
Still, I love 2-strokes, and I bet a 310cc 250r is pretty nasty, as they were impressive stock.

Make no mistake boys, i have zero interest in getting one. (Check my screen name!) I guess im just trying to figure out what all the craze is about. I assume they have to be able to be built up to face-melting fast or else why would anyone build one instead of a 450 or raptor?

If I find a mint 06 Banshee special edition, either the throw back yellow or the purple flame one, i will add it to my collection. I still have quite a hand full of my blasters. Never had a banshee yet I wouldn't let go.
