I have no idea what to do?

I got a 2014 TRX450ER. It has what looks to be a stock air filter and a full pro circuit t4 exhaust. The air box lid is still on.

So my question is if I take the airbox lid off do I need to change the jetting?

As it stands right now I can feel that it is missing some power. There are no problems with throttle response and it runs just fine however it does feel as though it has some more power bottled up.

Can anyone recommend an aftermarket air filter system, or should I just change the stock filter and leave the intake tube into the carburetor stock?

EFI is so much easier

I would think, just like EFI, any changes to the air intake you will need to change jetting. This comes from a background of dirt bike history, all carb. You mess with air, you will need to mess with jetting,

Just the exhaust change is enough to justify increasing jet sizing.

Huh, guess I need to learn how to do jetting now. Can you recommend a place to gain information, where should I start?

If it backfires is lean. You need to buy a few sizes and increas main and pilot jets. Efi is easy but it makes people dumb. This is why your needing help now lol.

2005 KFX700 good bit of mods
2001 Raptor 660R too many mods

You probably won't find much information for a Honda on this forum. You need to decide what setup you're going to run (what filter, lid on or off and so on) so you can jet accordingly.

Find some solid information about your bike. I'm sure someone out there has a similar setup to yours. Take in account elevation and buy some jets.

After you get them in do some plug chops. If you have questions about how the bike is running come back and ask. There's several people here that can guide you in the proper direction. Nice looking bike BTW....for a Honda.

if it has all of those things on it already (I assume were on it when you bought it), it may already be jetted accordingly. might just be some fine tuning. Either that or just a bump up (especially if you are pulling the lid). I can't speak to the Honda 450R, but, as with most things, it gets pretty easy after a few fixes. The first time I pulled the carb out of my old Zuke 400 and went through that...it was SLOW. 8 times later I was rejetting/tuning while it was still on the atv. PITA, but not hard.

Get a service manual if you don't already have one. The good thing about Honda's sport quads...they haven't changed in at least a decade and are quite popular. parts/info should be aplenty.
