Next came some Bling and Suspension by way of Chromed and Polished custom Exhaust and Monster Cans, Grab handle, A-Arms, Stator cover, and then the wiring begins.

wow! man that bike is amazing! I have few questions, what gearing do you have and how fast will it go? And I see you have stock brake, is it enough or are you going to get stronger?

Ready for Sand Mountain, my custom built Elka rear shock by Ragged Edge Performance will be here on Tuesday.....I will go shake out all the bugs on Halloween and then it will get torn apart for final frame cleaning and complete powder coat. but this is the basic build!

3 1/2 months start to finish!

Special Thanks to Tony AT Ragged Edge Performance, Paul @ Monsterquad for the cool gear, mufflers and the Engine hook up, and the crew at D7 Racing for fitting this project in between our customers. Alot of after hrs and weekend work by the team!!

Coming to a hill near you!!!

MIke

Its sick and all. but the biggest mistake of your build is there is no video. i want to hear this beast. I want to see what those monster sound like on a street bike motor.

great looking build. im doing a 09 r1 in a 700 and was reading your post and it say you are running a gsxr for the 190 hp but the gsxr only had 178 hp http://www.motorbikes.be/en/Suzuki_GSX-R_1000_2006.aspx and the 09 r1 motor has 182hp.and the older r1 motor has 172hp http://www.motorcycle.com/manufactur...iew-87844.html. im just asking because the r1 motor is the smallest 1000 motor made and the lightest and i dont want to do a 10k build and use the wrong motor lol. I only ride in the sand so i wanted to stay away for a heavy and tall motor.

that is a great looking build does the exhaust get hot by your legs?

Great Info Dave, I have seen alot of different #'s but never those, in any case the R1 motor is supposed to be 17 lbs lighter, but I weigh 290 lbs.......didnt figure 17 lbs would be relevent. With my custom monster guards my legs dont even know my pipes are there. I have seen a bunch of R1 builds as well as GXSR builds and I would say 75% of them looked and ran like fido's ass. I chose the GSXR over the R1 because of the quads I have seen go really fast were usually(NOT ALWAYS)Gixxers.

Best of luck with your build, take lots of pictures, and keep us informed.

If your ever at Sand Mountain Nevada shout out to me we'll hook up, line them up and see what happens. Win Lose or Draw it will be a good time

Mike
