Tuning

Currently have Dobeck Gen 2, and building a 727, 11:1, stage 2 hotcam and big 3 done. I am worried that I will not get the performance/tune good enough with the gen 2 dobeck. Any advice would be great and if I should upgrade to Power commander (what gen). Thanks guys

That's not a complicated build. Just tune for your intake and exhaust. If you already have a good tune, keep as your A/F mixture requirement won't change. But, your total compression will be around 11.5:1, requiring better then 93 octane depending on your elevation.

I know it isn’t a complex build but I been reading that you cannot get as good as a tune/power from gen 2 dobeck as the PC

That's true, a PC5 would be better if you want to spend the $$$. Get it with timing if you'll have it on a dyno or want to retard it for your compression. Get the 'auto tune' if you want to fine tune the map without a dyno.

The PC3 is old school, but still better then a Dobeck style. Usually sell for around $100-$125.
When ordering from TQS, tell Steve your build and he can pre-load a map for you.

You should try the Gen 2 Dobeck before spending extra money on a separate controller. You also have the option of returning the Dobeck controller back for a different base map to accommodate your current mods for a small fee. However, if you're set on purchasing another controller it's impossible to go wrong with a Vortex if budget allows. The Power Commander 5 w/timing and Dynatek Fusion are the same controllers with different pricing, so it makes no sense of paying extra for the PC5 these days.
