Exhaust Bung Placement

I have '18 700. I am replacing the stock head pipe with a FMF per bomb header. I have already replaced the air box and installed a In my stupidity, i did not look at the directions before i had a bung nut welded in. My son informed me that to get it work properly, it needed to be placed much further from the exhaust port than it is.

Right now, it is just after the bend , roughly 6" from the flange. It is also mount at roughly 12 o'clock, but, after looking online it appears, the suggested angle would be roughly 10 o'clock.

So my question is , should I plug this bung nut and start over, or will it work well enough to live with it as is?

thanks for your help

That's the spot, further back it might skew the readings. 6"-8" is the sweet spot.
