did some searching on the forum and didnt find exactly what i needed so i figured i would ask.
when installing my seat cover what style of staple should i use? a standard (fatter) style normally made by arrow
or like a (skinny) crown style?
i know i prolly shouldnt use anything longer than an 1/2" so that i dont poke myself while riding :stickpoke:
now to install the graphics is it easier to install seat cover first and then line up the graphics? i know i should heat up the seat cover while trying to install it. but do i heat the graphics? then i know to let them cure in the sun for like a full day. getting the others off i have read can be done with a pressure washer and some WD-40 then ill use rubbing alcohol to prep. my buddy has some graphic prep he got with his graphic kit which basicly is like putting soapy water on it and then using a squigy to get the rest of the watter out. should they be done with the plastics on or off the quad?
just out of curiosity, what kit are you putting on? I wouldn't take the plastics off or it could line up goofy. I would put the seat cover on first, then i would put the graphics on to line it up. If you use a skinnier staple you will need more of them, and vice versa with a fat staple. Look at the staple currently on it (OE) and get the closest match you can.
Use the stainless staiples dont forget to remove the old cover and dont use longer than 3/8 inch Beacause I have use 1/2 and I have dammage my seat cover in the back.... start by the front of the seat and go down, help you whit a heat gun really helpful for me. After the seat is finish put it in place and align your graphics in my instruction they mention to DO NOT USE WATER WHIT SOAP go down gently an use the heat gun for sculpt it........ go easy whit the heat gun. Ihave do mine in 2 hours whit the seat and the graphics, I have buy the GYTR on E BAY and pay $60.00. I hope it can help you........ sorry for my english I am french !!!!!
ok basically i took the plastics off as my buddy said it was easier and it was supprisingly easy. he said dont worry about it as the seat hardly ever lines upwith the graphics. well i guess i lucked out. i installed the DOXO Racing Graphics kit which i picked up from EBay for 59.99.
Re: Installing Graphics and Seat Cover. (((Finished w/ Pics))))
thanks guys, with two of us it took about 2 hrs but my stapler sucked ass. with an air stapler it prolly would have been about 1.5 hrs. be sure to use 3/8" staples. the wider ones work best.... use a heat gun or hair dryer and a graphic applicator / squigy!! they help big time. 8)

Worked in a tinting and decal shop for years. Best way to apply decals. Is mix a little bit of baby soap and fill the rest of the spray bottle with water. Shake up, spray and apply. Use a hard card (squigy). With the mixed soap it will allow u move the decals in place just incase you stick it to something you didnt need too. When in place use your hard card to pull the water from behind it let cure in sun for a day or 2.

ok so these stickers keep pealing off of the bike. i notified the lady on ebay and she has said that she has had quite a few issues with people that had the same problem.
ok before you think i didnt prep the surface right..... trust me i did its not my first graphics kit.....
the lady has refunded me my money to include shipping and doesnt want the kit back. im assuming she got these on a killer deal as she didnt have another black/red one to send me.
so i wonder... can i get some 3M Super 70 spray adhesive to get it to stay? the can says its ment to bond vinal or paper to plastic and wa la our fenders are plastic. do we thing it would work good? i might ruin the undersurface or have to strip it down in the future but hey i really like this kit. (not to many made for the black/red 660. i have thought about buying another kit but havent found one i really like other than this one.

Sounds like she got these at such a killer deal that these declas have been sittin around a bit and already precut and have lost alot of the adhesive. Just my .02 in this business. We use to have to return alot of stuff from glass scapes the tint/decals on the back of alot of trucks you see because of the same issue.
My kit did not line up with the seat like yours did. It still looks good, your lined up better. Once in a while a corner will come loose on the graphics. Honestly, I add a drop of super glue to keep it down. It's all the degreaser and cleaning shit that you use. I figure if I change the kit it will cover any glue damage. I had the seat done at the bike shop to avoid staples in the ass. Besides it was a mother trying to stretch it out perfectly. I have basically the same setup as you do as far as exhaust and etc... How's the bike run for you? Mine was a bitch to get jetted right. Now I am installing the stage 1 Hot cam. Hope it works out good. Let you know.
I have buy my GYTR from yamaha of troy and put on it for more than 6 month and I presure wash my bike after EVERY RIDE and nothing have move.......
i took that one off and went through goforitgraphics.com for a custom kit..... that way noone has what i got!! ad ill probably accent it with a quad tech seat cover.....
ill post pics when the kit gets here and is installed. goforit should send me a proof today so ill post it when i get it!!
Yeah, I know what you mean. Our bikes look alot alike. And your in Florida also. Your the first one i've seen with the same graphics as mine. I got them a couple of years ago. I am hoping to head up to Ocala in the next couple of weeks.
you want an extra set that doesnt stick so well? and an extra seat cover?? they prolly would have worked with some extra adhesive or super glue but the seat cover looks great. let me know ill give you the super duper hook up!!
