If your 660 is reliable it is likely to stay that way - just treat it with the proper care and maintenance!

Realize that most people that come in here are looking for a solution to a problem like "My 660 won't start - where do I need to look?" Not too many start a thread just to say "Hey, my 660 has been trouble free for 12 years!" This makes things look a lot worse for the object of their posts than reality. There's no reason to post if there's no problem.

RE: trouble free for 12 years? My 660 has been (after I put a lot of sweat into it fixing things the previous owner broke or overlooked!)

I had a trouble free 660 for 13 years. Eventually ended up doing a full rebuild before I sold it, but it had several hundred hard hours on it.
For reliability sake, I don’t know that I could say a 700 is better. I have several now and no issues. What I can say without a doubt, the 700 is a better platform if you want to make more power.

If you can afford to make the change, get a 700. 660 is a great machine, dont get me wrong. 660 is why i dont ride a 450 anymore. BUT, 700 is why i dont ride a 660 anymore either...
