Carb issue?

Hey all! I have a few questions i just finished rebuilding my raptor (bought it and second gear was shot) its been idling around 2500 rpm to 3100 rpm, and its been running hot. I don’t know if the average temp is around 220-240 but i was hitting around 240ish with the fan on. Spark plug is like a mix of carbon but also clean like i can still see white. Im wondering if this is a valve adjustment issue or a vacuum leak, running lean, etc it also has a sluggish mid range, it kind of hangs a bit than returns back to the high idle. I also read up they idle around 1500 give or take, im just wondering, also its bare bone stock, zero modifications besides new piston rings, thanks all!

Fan should pull it down to 208 pretty quickly... if it isn't I'd start looking for other issues - Thermostat? Water pump?

I usually take the radiator cap off and look for flow in the radiator after running the engine long enough to heat up and open the thermostat...

BTW, could be clogged radiator too. You can run a can of cooling system flush to (hopefully) eliminate that as an issue.

it was moving a bit i warmed it up to about 170ish and opened the radiator cap and it was moving, i think it was just clogged by the thermostat housing, bunch of junk in it. Its running to about 220 and than the fan kicks on to about 210 and it keeps doing that, is that alright? Sorry about all the questions i just want to make sure it’s running as well as i can get it

That is exactly what it should be doing while sitting at idle. When moving, airflow across the radiator should keep it under 210 except during extreme loads.
