Go to the auto parts store and pick up a bottle of wax and grease remover, acitone, and high temp engine paint (500 degree or higher). You'll need primer and the paint.... Sand any thing that is rough or scratched up from previous riding. clean, clean, clean, clean, clean, wipe off with acitone last and let it for about 15min. it needs to be clean in every nook and crany! once you think its clean..... wipe it down again. Then within 60 minutes spray 3 coats of primer and 3-4 coats of paint. leave about 9-10min in between coats. if the engine needs more coats you need to wait 7 days to apply any more paint. if not you can install it after 3 days. I did this and mine doesnt have a scratch on it and looks awesome!!!!!! here are some pics of a YFZ motor I did and it has taken a beating (mud, dirt, power washer, boots, you name it) and it still looks new.

after i cleaned the shit out of it for 2 hours

primer

VHT Gloss Black 550 deg paint. I painted each piece individually and baked them in the oven to cure them. VHT paint doenst get chemical resistant until it has been cured. It also gets more chip resistant. It is now painted with Duplicolor Graphite Wheel Coat. I like the stealth look better. When you do something wild people know you have been in the engine.

A black engine is hard to keep clean, just like a black car.

DO NOT use stainless bolts, they are softer than steel till you get them very hot. i went tjrough this with our inspection dept at the aircraft shop i work at. They wanted me to install SS hardware on the wings, i said i would not. i had to get proof that i was write. the plane left with painted steel.

I like the sleeper look. . . that engine that I painted doesnt look any different than stock but it has a hod rod crank, big bore kit, and a stage 1 cam. (didnt want to run racing fuel). Your machine looks AWESOME though! That black motor looks increadable!
