So after reading everything twice, is cutting the red wire the trick? Some reported it isn't.

It usually does the trick... but I suggest you do it in a way that is reversible, just in case.

2004 Raptor, red wire 'cut' didn't work, still sputtered, had to unplug the wire from behind the shifter and ground it.

I had the same issue. Had dynojets put in. Seems to have made it better

For you guys who said that it didn't remove it, but did it significantly raise the rpm in which it kicks in?

I have an aftermarket stator that doesn't have the rotor rotation circuit (only the two pickup coil wires in the square plug). It didn't remove the reverse rev limiter but it raised the RPM in which it kicks in. I can go 1/3 to 1/2 throttle before it starts to activate.

If jetting fixed your problem, it was a fuel issue, NOT the Reverse RPM limiter this thread is discussing.

Yes, not every quad seems to take to the red wire fix, but most do (which is what "usually" means in my post above)... do you have an aftermarket CDI?
