Overflowing and dies when I gear!!

What's up everyone. I am having some complications.. it's a 2004 and it's not running like it should. It's ran fine for a long time until it ran out of gas. Once I got more gas into it it will only idle like it should but overflows wile idleing. When I put it in gear is when it really runs like crap. When I put it in gear and try to move, it starts sputtering and backfiring until it dies. I think it may be carb related but I really just don't know. If someone could help me figure this out I would be so greatful!! Thank you!

If it is overflowing I am assuming that that is the carb overflowing. If that is the case the float may have gotten stuck or crap got in it. You can try wrapping lightly on the carb bowl with a wrench (go easy) and see if that frees up the float and fixes it. Otherwise you will need to remove the carb, inspect it, and clean it out thoroughly.
