Vapor problem

I've had a vapor on my raptor for 5 years and recently it started to mess about. My speedo now shoots to 299 mph as soon as you pull away and I've managed to cover 19,999 miles in 4 days I replaced speedo sensor and cable but I still run at 299 mph.Is there a minimum life expectancy on a vapor ? Everything else on unit works as it should so i'm a bit stumped and my MoT is due soon for which you have to have a working speedo.I run on the road only and it's my only transport, I really don't want to buy a new unit at 120 if I can help it

I think 5 years on an exposed aftermarket electrical part is pretty acceptable. Not to mention, 299mph as soon you pull away is pretty impressive
