Reverse light stays on

I have a 01 raptor 660 and reverse light stays on all the time? It's not mine it's a friend's. I checked the white green wire down at switch and if I ground it, it hot? Has full batt volts? So if I ground it it sparks and melts? If I connect it to the switch it does nothing so I pulled switch and checked for continuity thru it both ways closed and open and get nothing either way? But if I get a new switch that has continuity one way to ground it's gonna fry the wires and switch?
