What Did you Pay..?

Newly Registered and Buying a 2015 700R in the next couple of weeks.

I want to pick your brain on your experience with buying your toy and what is a fair price. I always see the MSRP is $8199, but is there any extra fees that I should be aware of? Like setup fees, freight, taxes etc.

Here in Oregon there is no sales tax, so should not have that, but just want a heads about what other fees I can expect. I am going to pay cash, so should have some leeway with price I'm hoping, and of course it would depend a lot on the dealer.

Not sure what dealer I am going to yet, there are a number of choices in the Portland area. I did read through the sticky on dealership grades that pertained to my area. Anyone have dealings with Yamaha Sports Plaza in Troutdale?

I'd buy an previous years one and make them sell it to you cheap, then take the money saved and immediately throw it into mods. people don't normally keep them stock anyway.


This was way back in the day so I'm out of touch with reality. Jan-march 2009 I bought my 08 raptor 700 for 5200 brand new with a friends and family discount from a local portland lot(that shall not be named) so I know there are deals out there. However you are picking a real bad time to buy. They kinda have you by the balls. They know it is riding season and they know you are gonna pay to play. Good luck.

Agreed with chowser. I would.ask of they have a left over 2014. Probably save 2 grand. Unless your stuck on the new color scheme

Last July I paid $5200 otd for a 2103 700R. It was a factory demo that traveled this area for demo rides. They estimated it had around 20hrs on it. Came with full warranty...Crazy deal I stumbled into.

I paid $8,200 for my 700 (not 700r) out the door. I did get an unlimited 6 year warranty. Thought I got an alright deal, I was happy. I wouldn't go with a 2014. I mean you could, but the '15 engines are the updated ones with more hp/tq numbers due to higher compression. That's why I went with the 2015. In the end whatever you want to do and whatever price you're happy with paying is all that matters. It's not always about the deal. Just my .02

IMO the new motors seem to respond well to motor mods and I would consider one of them over the 14 models.

I think I paid $8200 for mine out the door. I shopped around for a while to get that deal too! All the other dealers wouldnt come down from msrp and wanted to tack like $300 more on for this and that also! Cash really dont give you any more pull because even if its a loan there gonna get there money right away anyways. I would look for '14 if I were you. There is nothing like the look and sound of duals!

Now, if your not stuck on having to have a brand new one, find a really nice used one and dump the extra cash into the motor and you will have a BEAST! I was stuck on having one brand new and now probably have $15k into it! I could have had the exact same thing just older, and used, for half that! Just something to think about.

Thanks for all the replies. I agree about buy a 2014 and put the money saved into mods. The 2014's have dual exhaust?

I cant bring myself to buy used, don't know how it was treated. A lot to think about, so will have to look around and see what I can find. Sure want the 2015 though.

The 14's and lower have dual exhaust ports. Stock the header collects into one pipe.
