Start button does not work in my 07 350 raptor 4wheeler

I'm new here and was hoping to get a idea of how to fix the problems I'm having with my raptor. I bought it a few days ago. The previous owner said there was a bad connection in one of the wires that is located next to battery.and that it had to be jumped off. He said he replaced the solenoid. Even with cables connected it won't start using the button I have to use a screwdriver and start it at the solenoid. When I try to use the button it does nothing no click or anything. There's no light coming on to tell me I'm in neutral. It does not idle and in order to get it to run good do you have to hold in the brake just a little bit or it will die. I know that sounds crazy. And I don't understand it either. As far as starting do you think it might be my starter. My battery my solenoid or maybe my starting switch?

If it will start when you arc the solenoid then the starter, battery, and solenoid are all good. You have yourself an electrical gremlin and im no good at tracking those down. I did see a post a while back where someone had a thick spiderweb in the start button housing that prevented contact

I'm no mechanic but it sounds like you're feeding power to your electrical system by engaging the break circuit.

I'm sure somebody smarter than myself will be able to explain what I mean.
