Need help, smoking raptor 50

I bought my kid a 2004 raptor 50, when I started it at the previous owners house, it started fine and I didn't notice any smoke. When I brought it home and let him rip around the yard, this thing smokes like a 2 stroke! I changed the gas JIC he used 2 stroke mix, but it didn't help, it has good compression, and runs and starts good. It's a bit on the loud side, maybe the packing is burning up? Are these prone to any problems?

Unfortunately these little guys are prone to eventually smoke. A lot of people don’t ever EVER change the oil in these things because their kids just rip me up. I bought a raptor 80 and it smokes like hell. The rings on the piston just wear and create a gap in the cylinder. I ordered a whole kit, piston, rings, gaskets, cylinder and spark plug on amazon for under $40. If you’re comfortable with engine work and YouTube videos you could have it pulled apart and back together on a Saturday. Also if you do decide to go that route clean the carbon build up off of your valves while you have it apart and adjust the valve clearances.
