2009 Raptor 90...Junk?

Hello all! I recently helped someone out in need of money and purchased a 2009 Raptor 90. This machine looks brand new and he claims it only has a few hours of riding on it (there is no wear indicators to say otherwise). The carb was varnished and I washed it 4 times in dip and ultrasonic and rebuilt it. It starts right up and idles like a dream. It goes half throttle and then anymore it dies. I have spent soooo much time reading the number of forums expressing the same symptoms, but never any positive solutions!

Does anyone have any remedies which worked for them?

I paid $700 though I see some of the same year selling for a bit more (I think I over paid). I don't know if I should invest any more time into it or if I should try to let it go?

Thank you in advance for any help!

Have you played with the carb adjustments? Needle position, jetting?

I haven't really, but I did plan on shimming the needle this weekend. It is baffling to me that it runs so well half throttle and then anymore, it dies! The machine is so basic, it is driving me crazy! I have been frustrated before with ATVs, but this one has me feeling defeated. Part of me wants to just sell it, but the other part wants to buy a new carb and see what happens!

With the number of forums on this topic, the only posts I found with a remedy is the carb heater...I ordered the $26 part last night so we will see!

I did change the jets with slightly bigger, the starter jet actually made it idle rough, but still the same throttle problem with no change.

Any luck?? Having the same issue with mine 4 carb rebuilds and finally a replacement carb. Idles fine then hit the gas and it increases rpm until the clutch engages and it starts stalling like it can't handle the load.

I read in some older post, on how some guys claimed to habe fixed their carb issues. I have a 2012 90 raptor, that i just purchased for my daughter to race. I am having some of the same problems. I have gotten it running fairly decent but not good enough to be competitive. I been out of the racing business for about 30 years and now getting back in. The post are fromaround 2012 i think. I can copy and paste if you can't find them.
