I have Cree units. Very good. I got it from GTPoffroad.com. Don't buy anything super cheap, then moisture can get behind the lens. Study up on the IP rating on them I think it is.

My buddy has a CREE on his rincon, has had no issues and rides trails with creeks, mud, etc. I have a rigid bar that cost a small fortune, however it can take a blast from a shotgun, I guess thats a good thing. I also have 2 small bar lights that flank my rigid light on the bars. They where cheap, $25 on amazon. I think NI-ligh makes em. I have had no problems with them although I did silicone where the wires come in just to be safe. I know Cammy bought a reasonably cheap light before he met up with us, it worked just fine. Maybe he'll chime in. For the Dunes especially I recommend getting one you can fasten to your handlebars, Depth perception can be tricky out there since its all sand and its nice to be able to just turn your bars and look around.
With all the lights I have now, in the woods its almost like daylight, but in the dunes its a drop in the bucket, still way better than just stock which is all we had the first trip but thats another story. Yeah man, get some lights.

I wouldn't wanna be a member of any club that would have me.

I bought a rigid handle bar mount from GTP then paired it up with a 30$ amazon special. It worked well for the price, but didn't compare to Matt's. I only used it the one time but it worked better than I had expected.

My outlook on it was, I ride maybe 2-3 times a year at night if I'm lucky. So if I ruin one every year I'm still ahead of the game.

I can understand. I'm glad I got it, was way better than stock lights or stock lights with HIDs. I think I was in the whole setup for 50 if not a little less.

Here's my whole setup 4Stroker. They lowers are hids, on the bars is a rigid and then the amazon $25 lights flanking it. Stay away from the HIDs, at the time LEDs weren't cheap and plentiful like now. If I was in your position, I'd look for a CREE about the length of your handlebar pad. IMO that would give you the most practical usage for your $. Cammys did work well for the $. Of course I stayed behind him, so he could see better. Not because he's a better rider on a faster bike. That's the way I tell it anyway.

Get a gps or atleast a gps app. Also print a map of the Dunes and carry it. Trust me, when it happens you'll know.
