2015 Head on pre-2015 Raptor?

So, is it possible? Cuervo... You there?

It seems as if the newer 2015 cylinder heads are a much better design featuring 1 exhaust port vs. the pre-2015 with the dual exhaust ports. Then the idea of running a single exhaust but making even more power than now seems intriguing to me.

I'm surprised no one has brought this up. I guess getting a hold of a 2015 head at the moment would be a pricey ordeal but still. Is it doable?

And what is this "Reed Assembly" that is shown where the 2nd exhaust port usually is on the pre-2015 Raptor heads?

What I want to see was a real modded 15 vs a an older model to see if like mods above a 3mod would show bigger numbers. I mean the numbers that have been shown are good for a big 3 build, but what about a big bore all modded out, or a stroker build, or a turbo build. Thats the data I would like to see. For alot of us, we look past the simple big 3 deal so what are the real gains past that? If I had all the mods I have on mine but on a 15 motor with a single setup would it make 78hp at the wheels? Would it make 85? Would it make 65? Thats the real data that I have yet to see anyone share. Im sure its out there but usually when things dont go the way you want them, you arent as quick to put that out on the street. Just from my thoughts on things, I see a 15 motor making more torque with same mods as say a 14, but making less hp in exchange. The one exhaust will create more back pressure in turn creating more torque, but sacrificing the exhaust flow you need to make bigger hp #'s. If somebody has the data to disprove my theory, I would love to see it!

Yes the heads and all the internals are 100% interchangeable.
We have a 2015 and I'm putting a 15 head on my 06 to build and test turbo kits.

I think a turbo might see some promising gains. Forced induction is a whole different animal!

Now that is what I'd like to see. Do you have any idea what that "reed" is for on the 2015 head. It's got to be for either coolant or oil. Is the only way to get a hold of a 2015 head to buy it new OEM? Rocky Mountain wants $432 for the complete assembly vs. $691 for a pre-2015 head. Not bad really, but without proven gains by swapping the two it's a hard call.

The reed valve is a EGR . It opens and closes with the pulse of the exhaust . It has a solenoid it goes to under the gas tank and then to the air intake tube .
.
Don't have flow specs on the exhaust , But just based on the outlet diameter it's only has a 10% difference in flow compared to the 06-14 head.
.
I spec'ed the cam out . It has the same lift as the 06-14 . 7 degs more duration @.040. And valve timing events closer to a hot cams .

On my 06 we will run it with a 06-14 16 bit ecu then switch out to the 15 32 bit to see the difference on the timing oscillating between the 2

Interesting, surprised to see EGR on a motor like this. We deal with them on V8 Vortec motors for our business. I knew the cam was a bit different. It will be interesting to see how all the numbers work out with swapping 2015 stuff around on the older 700s.

It's sad actually to see an EGR on an atv. It just means the emissions war on quads has ramped up further. Meanwhile dirtbikes continue to be detuned running way better numbers from the factory without the regulatory BS atvs are subjected to. Kinda irks me that Yamaha was forced to do that.

There.is a plate to block off the emission valve from Cuervo. The head, cam, and piston will fit older motors with no modification except exhaust. When all parts are swapped, you can expect the power and torque to carry over. Of course more compression, better cam, +3TB, and a FCI will help. 105.5 big bore and 4mm stroke will each add about 3HP. More bore and stroke will of course increase that. Only a theory, but the dual exhaust may have a better chance of either pulse reaching the turbo first.
