734 gaskets

I hear a lot of issues with head gaskets with the 734 kit. Should I use permatex when i install it? Anything i can do to prevent this without getting new studs?

Get the head studs and do not use permatex. I can't recall the head gasket to use at the moment. Not Cometic...someone chime in, help me out lol.

I did a quick search for the sce gasket. 100 bucks for a gasket?? Is there any company that sells it as a kit? I found a cp 11.5:1 734 piston with acp cylinder and cometic gaskets for 450.

The cometic gaskets are known to have issues. SCE is the only way to go.
Keep in mind if using a Chinese cylinder opposed to a reworked oem, the cylinders often need a bunch of work before you can assemble the engine.
Surfaces are often not flat, bore not round, holes not drilled and/or tapped, dowel pin holes drilled too shallow. That’s the difference between a $100 cylinder and a $400 cylinder.

It’s not just a simple direct swap.

I have some cometic gaskets you can have....Trust them, go with the SCE. I have used mine over for many rebuilds. And I would go with a CP cylinder.

I believe him, when I switched to the 11:1 piston, I used the gaskets that came with it (cometic) and I had it fail. Switched the an OEM gasket, no problems now. I will look for the cp cylinder. I appreciate all the advice. Thanks

CP cylinders come from RE and your going to pay $600+ for one. Call MillenniumTechnologies and see if they have any 105.5 cylinders on the shelf, they use OEM cylinders. Or check with the common Raptor parts vendors as they usually have a 105.5 bore on the shelf. I would not use anything other than a CP or a reworked OEM cylinder. Yes the SCE gaskets are expensive but highly recommended for a big bore.

Yep, and if you use a reworked oem cylinder, its going to be sleeved......I will never do a sleeved cylinder again. The sleeves have a tendency to drop in the cylinders and then you have head gasket issues. The best ain't cheap.
