is a chain that doesnt have rollers as good as a chain that doesnt have rollers?

my friend broke his stock chain and front sprocket, he went to redline motorsports and they sold him a non-roller chain, told him it was a better bang for his buck, is this true?

Using a non-roller chain is cheaper up front. However it will cost more in the long run. non-roller chains will DRAMATICALLY increase sprocket wear. It also robs a slight bit of power with the extra friction.

It's best to stick with a good roller o-ring chain.
