AWESOME maintenance tip! Thank you. Good to see lots of clean screens out there. My son will be checking his this weekend! It is a 2004, and he is at least the third owner. While he changes the oil with synthetic pretty often, we do not know about previous owners. This will be a good thing to check!!!

That looks nasty good thing you checked it. Did you just do a build or rebuild?

Yes. It blew the bottom of piston out and shot the rod through the front of cases. I rebuilt it and forgot to clean this screen after. So that is a blow up, + 2 hrs on a new top and bottom build

My first quad was a 660 that didnt run. I got it and figured out that they rebuilt it and didnt clean the screen or change the oil. So shards of aluminum got in the oil pump and broke it. I looked at the oil screen and i dont know how oil would have even flowed if the pump didnt break

Jeez, that must have been bad! Ya, i feel like a dummy forgetting to do that one. I cleaned the screen between the cases and was very meticulous and clean with my rebuild as usual. It even got a new oil pump. (Hope i didnt scar it like your talking about) I guess i was just a little too excited about getting this one going and didnt think of it until first oil change. Was draining the tank and thought "oh crap!"
