Oil change ?

Has any one ever have to add more than two qts of oil when doing an oil change? I just did my first oil change and i replaced the filter. I put half a qt of oil in the case and about 1. 3 in the tank. The dio stick was marking just barely over full and I started the bike and reved it a few times. Then i let it sit for a few hrs and when i checked the dip stick it barely had any oil on it. I add the remaining .2 that i had left and now it reads just over e. Do i need to go buy more oil or do i need to turn it on and let idle for a bit and then let it cool down for a bit and check the oil again ?

It is a sump system, so you added the correct amount. It needs to idle until warm, turn off and let sit for 5 minutes then check the oil.

When changing filter and oil, put in 2 quarts. I put 3/4 qt in the case and 1 1/4 qt in the tank and all is good. No need to check it unless it leaked on the floor. Check oil level after each ride.
