Edit: Meant to say gas in oil, not oil in gas.
I have an 06, there are pinhole leaks out of the top side of the jug. I fill up the coolant tank to the max line, a couple days later its at min. What do you think the problem is?
Also, my gas is somehow getting into my oil. I have a efi tuner, but the guy that bought the bike b4 me had no idea how to use it. Its a Wiseco tuner. I have a full FMF Powercore 4.1 RCT exhaust with the power bomb header, too.
If you can see leaks....that's where your coolant is going. gas in the oil more than likely is you are really rich from the tuner and gas is getting past the rings and into the oil, no other way to get there. What does your plug look like?
Ok, so i pulled the head off this weekend. The gasket looked fine. Piston and jug look fine, no scratches or gouges. Valves had a little bit of carbon build up. I ordered an OEM gasket to replace it today.
I have a Wiseco tuner, ill just dial down the settings, see what happens. Thanks.
BUT ive never "timed" a timing chain or messed with the valves. I am a little scared to screw it up.
Being a '06 now would be a good time to at least replace the rings. It could be bad rings allowed the gas in the oil.
Check the valves for leakage by pouring or spraying brake/carb/WD40 or similar solvent in the intake and exhaust ports. If there is any leakage past the valves they should be lapped or a valve job.
Also, check the head for warpage, a common problem.
Follow the manual to set valve timing, then turn over by hand a few times and recheck the timing marks.
Did you check the timing chain for stretch?
