My raptor cut out while riding and locked up solid. When you press the start button it’s like the battery is dead, but if you put it into top gear and rock it back and forward it’s like it frees up again and will start on the button again but will only go 100 yards and cuts out again. Has this happened to anyone before?
I was told to check valve clearances first that it may not be allowing the decompression pin correctly?

I don’t think it is well at least a hope not, runs fine for a short while then cuts out and locks up

Sounds like the piston/rings. If the motor is indeed actually locking up. I'd pull the spark plug and look for signs of aluminium contamination.

Engines either seize or they don't.
Check the rear wheel bearings/carrier.
I would also be checking the transmission.

Yes they can seize, cool and then run until they seize again, more than once. I've had a few engines come in the shop where people have done this. They get the engine so hot the oil will actually turn into something that looks like grease. Pull the drain plug and nothing comes out A bearing will seize then cool and loosen letting the engine run again. Have also seen rings pinch and after the engine cooled and rocked to free the piston/rings, run again. Heck I think 2 strokes were built to do it!

They can also hydro lock from fuel/coolant and seem seized and after the fluid has worked its way past the piston/rings run again.

Crank rod bearing is going out. Common problem. Happened to me twice on my turbo raptor. As it cools the bearing loosens up but with heat it expands and locks up. Eventually after many heat cycles she will lock up completely. Time for a rebuild on the motor. Probably not what I wanna hear but 99.9% that’s ur issue

Pull the plug on the side of the case and try to spin the crank by hand while in neutral, with the spark plug out. This will tell you with 100% certainty if you have a serious issue
