:3question: How easily is a rotor bent????????? please help

ok heres what happen i bought a an 05 660r test drove it awsome quad. D**khead at shop loaded quad on to my truck using a fork lift. with on of the forklift blades on my rear brake rotor!!!. i get home take her around the block and all i hear is a sqeaking noise! so i put the bike up on a stand and watch the wheels spin the right tire wobbles a bit and i can totally see my rotor wobbling rubbing my calipers. is it possible that my axle bent or is it more likely it was just the rotor that bent????

Regardless of what is bent, take it back and make the idiots fix it.

Right on Quadmaniac, and if it still has that plastic dust shield under its axle, replace it with something that is made of metal so it protects the rotor rather then just looks like it might

i tried and they arent cooperating. theyre blaming me for it. thier excuse is "it ran fine while it was here" "we dont know what you did with it when you left" so theyre not being helpful at all. could the fork lift possibly have bent the axle or just the rotor. i mean it was only the weight of the bike and he didnt bang it or jerk it around.

raise the rear tires and spin the tire manually to see what is not moving correctly. or if the rotor is bent.

what the fuck are they loading it with a damn fork lift anyway... being a shop the should know better... you just don't pick anything with a forklift... if it were on a pallet or something thats different.. but not on an unprotected quad... i would be all over their ass as soon as i saw the forklift coming over to pick it.. thats retarted

Not sure why they were using a fork lift....
I've bent a couple rotors trail riding, even with aftermarket skids! (It was usually from backing into a boulder or something) ::)
They can be tweaked (bent) pretty easily, it is probably just the rotor.

Blah!! i suppose they were trying to help and being lazy at the same time. i spent all afternoon trying to get the rotor off the four allen bolts wouldnt budge ended up stripping all four heads. finally got them off using a fine chisel and a hammer at an angle to get them to twist off. everything else seems ok. just have to stop by the dealer and get some new bolts. does anyone know how i can expand the caliper a bit to fit the thicker rotor? do i just bleed it out?

Bent my rotor taking Rappy off the trailer once... missed the ramp and dropped it off the side, just a bit... landed on the rotor... bent to hell. They are not designed to support any load other than braking forces. Get a good swing arm skid plate... cheaper in the long run than replacing bent rotors and sprockets.

You may have to back off the parkbrake if it is still installed

Damn, so they refused? sorry maybe you already said it, was it a brand new bike or used? how long did you wait to take it back and complain? they should have fixed it if you're sure they did it, go threaten them a little more, talk with the owner, and then be like hey, I'm never coming back here, I will never recomend anyone to come back here and call the Better business buera!

for removal... next time you need a tourch to heat up the bolts before you take them out! as for the caliper, new pads wont fit in i dont think unless you remove the braking break plate and then push the caliper all the way in. if you use the same pads, they should be ok with out doing that

yea i backed out the parking brake bolt bled them out and they are working great with my new rotor. i guess the guilt got to the guy at the dealer and he agreed to give me some free parts for my troubles and ordered me some other stuff at cost. i guess things work out for the best one way or another. thanks for all the input guys ur a great help. 8)
