6 pack rack question

962 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  RFguest163451
I have heard from some of my fellow riders that the 6 pack rack causes the subframe to crack. I guess what I want to know is what everyone here thinks of this or if he/she has had happen because of one. I don't see any cracks on my Raptor as is stands, and if the 6 pack rack causes them, then I will yank mine off.

No. It does not crack the frame. Unless I am not understanding your question I cannot see how the rack can crack the frame. The 6 pack rack uses the same holes as did the grab bar. I have had mine since 2003 and have had no problem, with the exception of tightening it once and a while...
They could be referring to the added leverage or maybe the weight if you have a loaded cooler on it going down a rough ass trail. I'd expect the aluminum 6 pack rack to crack before the subframe though.

I agree. Hell, often times mine is used as a wheelie bar after I get done drinkin what was once in my cooler. Mine has not bent or cracked yet. Just me is the one bent half the time
most grab bars are designed to break at a certain stress point so if you hit it hard it will just break the grab bar and not tweak your subframe. the 6-pack racks are designed to be very strong, its possible that if you did go too far on a wheelie and really slam the back end down, some say the subframe will tweak before the grab bar breaks. but i wouldnt worry about it
