They work ok, just stay off the jumps. It'll change geometry so expect differences in effective spring and valve rates. Travel is the same provided you don't adjust it so far out that the link hits the frame of the swingarm before the shock can fully extend (or compress, I can't remember which problem I had).
I use one on the ice, but I remove it for summer dune and trail riding. Never tried it on the strip but I'd imagine it'd have benefits.
