I was just wondering does it hurt the quad when the overheating light comes on? I took it back and had the cdi box or suttin replaced and it works now, but what about when it overheated before? did it do any damage, it never got hot enough to turn off though...

It depends on how long you ran it when it was overheating. Most likley it is fine.

If it was only a few minutes nothing happened. It is fine. If the engine was ran long then you might want to change the coolant but if it was only a few minutes your fine. When engines heat up the metal expandes and contracts. If it has overheated for a long time then it could expand to much and may not contract to the stock diamater and it could crack the cylinder.
