Ok, well I pulled my plug today and it was black as hell, so I guess I was right about being rich.

If you guys recall, I had smoke at idle and when revved, and the motor didn't want to return to idle quickly.

Ok, so to lean the mixture out, I turn the screws OUT right?

Also, I need to reset my valves because I set them a little tight. I set the to .004 and .006 but now I'm going to go with everyone's advice and reset them to .006 and .008. But one question I have is will it matter that my garage will only be like 30-35 degrees when I set the valves?

Turning the screws out richens the mixture, turning them in leans it out.

Bike should be warm when you set the valves, run it for a bit and let it cool enough that you can touch it. Other than that if you can work in the cold you'll be fine.
