hi, I have a problem with my 2004 Yamaha raptor 660r it starts up fine and will idle good as I hit the throttle though it starts to pop, starts sputtering and also it backfires with flames coming out of the exhaust almost every time but when I hold the clutch it revs just fine, until I pop it in to first gear it will just bog down again and sputter, I bought some carbruators of ebay hopping that was the problem but it basically just made it worse, please help if you know what might be the problem

Ok I now unplugged the PB sensor and it revs good again in neutral without backfiring problems, but as I put it in to first gear it will start backfiring and sputter I can only get the throttle to about 1/4 before It shuts of again because of bogging, would that be a carb or an electrical problem.

Thanks

I'd check the reverse switch as mentioned above. Reverse has a rev limiter and if the bike thinks it is in reverse it will cause the symptoms you have.
