I am trying to disassemble my cylinder head, it is removed from the engine, I am replacing a failed timing chain.

I need to remove the cam sprocket, my manual describes how to do this assuming the chain is still connected to the crank.

How can I prevent the cam from turning while loosening the bolts?

I am thinking about either using a strap wrench, if it is thin enough to fit, or using the old chain wrapping it around and securing the other end.

Anyone do this before?

Put it in gear with the brake on.
