I bought my raptor used and it has one of those K&N filters on it. I havent ridden my machine but a couple of times but I am wondering how often it should be cleaned and what is the best way to do it? Thanks

Some people clean them after every ride. I tend to do mine about every two to three months, sometimes more often if I had some really muddy conditions. The best way to clean it is by going and buying a K&N Recharger kit from your local Advance Auto or NAPA. They're only $10 and they'll clean the filter half a dozen times or more.

K&N's work better when they're a little dirty, and the more you wash them the faster they wear out.

What he said! Don't overclean and definitely don't over oil them when you do clean it.

Thanks I will get the recharger kit and I guess I should have asked what is the preffered oil for these machines? I just want to give it a good once over its an 05 and doesnt have allot of hours on it but I want to keep it in good condition.

I clean mine like every 10 rides (2 months) or so depending on how it looks. And its best to use the k&n kit, and like others said... Dont overoil.
