I was looking at an electric shifter and couldn't help but wonder how hard is it on the tranny to shift without the using the clutch? Never had any expieriance with them, i'm not looking to buy one just interested in what the effects are.
Well someone stepped into my arena...lol. The electric shifter is not hard at all on the tranny as long as you have an ignition kill. It will kill the ignition for a few ms and allow for a smooth shift. Ignition kills are used a lot for quicker shifting. Power commanders have ignition kill switches built in them now and are used a lot on sportbikes in the racing community. I personally have an electric shifter on my Raptor. You can see it here: http://home.earthlink.net/~bdmpastx/Raptor.htm It is a Pingel Electric shifter. It came with the ignition kill module. It cost a pretty penny though. But all electric shifters cost about the same. I got it for $525.00 The dealer cost on them is $477.00.
