I picked up a cheap 700 and it was having little puffs of black smoke and acting like it was flooding out.. I checked the tps while it is still plug in (my battery was low so i dont know if that could affect reading)

blue + to black blue - should be 4-6.... i got .84
yellow + to black blue - should be 0-5...i got .8-1.4
yellow+ to black blue - should be .63-.73 volts.... i got roughly 4

*now it looks as if my tps is bad but i have three question..
1-could the tps be cause of me fouling plugs?
2-is the high voltage because of bad tps or am i looking at something else?
3-Could it just need cleaned or is it gone?

Thanks fellas

TPS sensor operates off of a 5 volt referance. What was your battery voltage? JUst low or wouldn't start? It is rare to see a unit loose its 5volt ref. more commonly the sensor fails or is just out of adjustment.
