I have an 02 660 and for some reason or another, the reverse light will flash on and off from time to time. When it first started to blink, I figured that it was a fault in the transmission of some sort that it was detecting, but I found it hard to believe that it was capable of that. After a few times of blinking, I came to the conclusion that it isn't any sort of warning. It will start blinking intermittently totally indiscriminate of how I am riding or how far into riding I am. Sometimes it will start flashing the moment I start it up. I have the service manual and I can't find anything that helps me out. I really don't think this is anything to worry about, I have been riding with this problem for the last couple of months. I am just curious as to what is causing this.

Your reverse light will blink if you are idling to high.

pull the connection below drive sprocket and clean. there are plenty of posts in the search section on how to by-pass the reverse limiter thus with most loose the light.

Even after you ground out the reverse rev limiter, the rev light will still blink if your idling to high.
