I recently obtained a 85 Yamaha 3 wheeler for free. I keep trying to decode the Vin to make sure what I was told is what I really have but can't seem to find one that works for this vin. The tag says yam(then random numbers and letters) and doesn't pull up anything on Google.
I believe it to be a ytm200e or something as it has electric start and reverse along with rear suspension.
If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

It may possibly be a 1986
Yamaha typically uses the tenth digit to represent the last number of the model year.
Since F is the 6th letter of the alphabet, so
198 6

I have some Yamaha vin decoder info somewhere, I'll look for it.

This is Yamaha California's number.
I have called them several times over the years. They have always been very friendly and helpful, but, there have been several gytr 660 parts that they no longer even had info on, it was as if they never exhisted, so it could go either way.
But, it's worth asking them.

Tried calling them but all they could tell me is that it wasn't a US model based on the JY3. Was worth a try though, thanks six
