Help No start

I have an 08 700 with dmc duals, cp11:1, hc3 and a msd. The bike will start fairly good with a decent plug in it but shuts off within a few seconds. I have adjusted the tps and played with the tune. If I give it gas I can keep it running longer but it cuts out and pops and help appreciated.

Have you tried unplugging the MSD? Could be TPS is miles out, could be dodgy wiring. Yamaha electrics were never the best in early 2000s to start with. The fact it's going with a pop sounds like it's over fueling and flooding out. Could even be a dodgy spark plug or coil on its way out.

Start with the free stuff. Remove MSD and see if that works. Check for any signs of damage to wiring or wires being pulled or plugs not quite seated right. Check TPS, there is away to check and set back to factory, but for the life of me I can't remember how.

Then move to cheap stuff, replace spark plug, if still no different, replace coil. Hopefully you don't get this far down the list and the problem is solved.

Update - TPS adjustment... Thanks to the el-manual.

S00916 CHECKING AND ADJUSTING THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR NOTE:Before adjusting the throttle position sensor, the engine idling speed should be properly adjusted.
1. Check: • throttle position sensor
a. Disconnect the throttle position sensor coupler from the throttle position sensor.
b. Remove the throttle position sensor from the throttle body.
c. Connect the pocket tester (Ω × 1k) to the terminals of the throttle position sensor. Positive tester probe → blue, Negative tester probe → black/blue
d. Measure the maximum throttle position sensor resistance. Out of specification → Replace the throttle position sensor. Maximum throttle position sensor resistance 4.0 ~ 6.0 kΩ at 20 °C (68 °F) (blue-black/blue)
e. Connect the pocket tester (Ω × 1k) to the terminals of the throttle position sensor. Positive tester probe → yellow, Negative tester probe → black/blue
f. While slowly opening the throttle, check that the throttle position sensor resistance is within the specified range. Resistance does not change or it changes abruptly → Replace the throttle position sensor. Slot is worn or broken → Replace the throttle position sensor. NOTE: Check mainly that the resistance changes gradually when opening the throttle, since the readings (from closed to wide-open throttle) may differ slightly from those specified.
2.Adjust: •throttle position sensor angle
a.Connect the throttle position sensor coupler to the wire harness.
b.Connect the digital circuit tester to the throttle position sensor.
c.Measure the throttle position sensor voltage. d.Adjust the throttle position sensor angle so that the voltage is within the specified range.
Throttle position sensor voltage 0.63 ~ 0.73 V (yellow-black/blue)
e.After adjusting the throttle position sensor angle, tighten the throttle position sensor screws
3. Throttle position sensor resistance 0 ~ 5 ± 1 kΩ at 20 °C (68 °F) (yellow-black/blue) Positive digital circuit tester probe → yellow, Negative digital circuit tester probe → black/blue, Digital circuit tester 90890-03174 Model 88 Multimeter with tachometer YU-A1927

I will try it step-by-step when I get home with the method that you posted. I don’t similar and have adjusted it several times. I also replaced my throttle cable before starting my bike after the rebuild. So I was a little worried maybe I was white for out of adjustment but I have adjusted it several times to within spec. Another problem I have is is is to do it with a bike that the engine is warm and I cannot get mine, set an idling and warmed up enough. I feel like it will not run more than a few seconds.

I didn’t notice that when I gave it throttle to try and keep it running every now and then it would pop, the plug is wet with fuel every time, and there is enough fuel to have gas in my oil

Either getting way too much fuel or not burning it efficiently. Assume the timing is spot on and valve clearances are good?
Yes I have triple checked both

I did put a new throttle cable and I may have got he idle adjustment off but I have messed with it so much and the tps I feel like if they were the issue I would have see some kind of results by now.

Possibly, there are so many things that it "could" be, my suggestion is to try out all the usual first, stuff that is free. Before replacing parts, could be something as simple as a fouled plug.
I’ve swapped plug’s several times but I gonna get another one today and try it. What do y’all recommend I been just getting cr8e’s till I get the it to idle, it starts no problem, but just immediately dies every time

Will it stay started if you give it a little throttle? I run CR8EIX, only difference between that and yours is mine is iridium. Did you unplug the MSD to see if that was an issue? Assuming you have the standard ECU?
Yes if I give it throttle I can keep it running. I have a stock ecu and msd and the procom the bike came with and I get the same results with the procom and the msd. Yeah I was going to put a iridium plug back in after I got it running correctly I have replaced the coil, changed plugs and set the tps. Anything else I should try? How could I hook a fuel pressure gauge up?

When I first got the bike all I had was the procom ecu, but the mfer ran until the new piston and hc3

Something as simple as your idle being set to low? It is manually adjustable on older Raptors, not sure if newer are still the same.
