Do you mean power shifting? If so, yes it is harmful to the clutch and transmission. It serves no real purpose in normal riding situations outside of drag or mx racing.

They make to wheel the quad. While riding normal , just pull the clutch (without taking your hand off the gas) than release suddenly.

IF you shift with no clutch, but you let off of the throttle completely, and do not force the shifter, it is actually less stress on the drive train, and the gears will shift easily within a wide rpm range.
But, as said, if you keep the throttle open, and quickly engage/disengage the clutch, then it causes more wear to the clutch plates, and will wear the basket depending on the exact timing of the shifts.
You can also damage transmission gears and shift forks this way, as if shift timing isn't perfect, you are forcing the gear to change without the clutch momentarily disengaging their drive.
