New to site looking for advice. Just bought a 2005 660 with the following modifications (appears to be all there but no clue of stage 2):

Yoshi full exhaust
stage 2 cams
K+N filter no lid no snorkel

Had edelbrock carb on it but i replaced it with stock carbs and intake. it barely idles and wont rev well. Im guessing the carbs need jetted with the modifications but not sure how to or what size. any ideas?

What is your current jetting? Are they completely stock carbs with stock jetting?

Jetting for a 686 wont differ much if at all compared to a 660 but you should be using aftermarket needles half way up with #25 pilots and around 160 to 165 mains...........

I have a very similar set up as you.

I just ordered Mikuni mains (160 and 165) and #25 Pilots from Rocky Mountain ATV ($21 shipped) and had a real hard time finding needles but I found some at Alba Racing ($20 shipped) on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...89&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:1123#ht_768wt_1336. You can aslo go to there site for some good set up info or to order from there http://teamalbaracing.com/pages.php?pageid=13#rhino.

Or you can find a kit that comes the way you want it but all the kits I looked at were not quite what I was looking for.

Good Luck

You might want to look at the Vito's jet kit, comes with everything you need, and it has the fully adjustable A/F screws, better than having to remove the carbs everytime, or try to maneuver a bit in there with pliers lol.

I have a jet that says 55 and 2 jets that say 27.5 I see 2 needles but not sure how to remove them, the screws on the black covers are mainly stripped out. I assume I need to remove them to remove the needles??

Best bet to remove those screws on the covers if they are stripped out, is to take a hack saw and cut a groove in them and use a flat head, or take a pair of pliers and take them off that way. Replaced those screws with some allen head bolts as well, it will prevent that from happening again in the future. You can pretty much replace any screw (cover screw) on the carb with allen head bolts.

Albas website says to use stock needles. Do I need to change them for the ones on ebay you mentioned. In the same note what do needles control?
